Roman republic - denarius Jupiter (JA25130)

Anonymous, 86 BC. Denarius (Silver, 19 mm, 3.91 g.). Head of Jupiter (?) to right, wearing oak-wreath; below neck truncation, thunderbolt. Rev. Though usually described as Apollo, the head of the god on the obverse of these coins is most likely that of a youthful Jupiter, the oak wreath and the thunderbolt being his attributes. The same god is depicted on the reverse.
