The Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt - Ptolemy IV Philopator (222-204 BC) - Didrachm (Cyprus 6.85g) - Diademed head of Ptolemy I right, wearing aegis around neck / BAΣIΛEΩΣ ΠTOΛEMAIOY Eagle standing left on thunderbolt (Svoronos 1212 / SNG Copenhagen 552) - a rare coin, VF/XF
Svoronos and SNG Copenhagen list this coin under Ptolemy IV, dated year 105 of the era of Ptolemy Soter (206 BC), minted in Aradus, however, the most recent discussion is from C. Lorber, "The Ptolemaic era coinage revisited," NC (2007), pp. 105-117 and the current scholarship has shifted these issues to Ptolemy VI and to an uncertain mint in Cyprus.
