Scarce and interesting denarius minted for propaganda purposes to inform Roman citizens that there was a happy agreement in the marriage of the young emperor. In 202 AD, 14-year-old Caracalla married Plautilla the daughter of the praetorian prefect. They both sincerely hated each other and lived together like the proverbial 'dog and cat'. The news from the imperial palace shocked and divided the Roman community. This coin was supposed to calm the mood.
