Hadrian. (117-138 AD). Silver denarius (3.4 gm, 18 mm). Rome, ca. 119-125 AD. IMP CAESAR TRAIAN HADRIANVS AVG, head laureate right / LIBERAL AVG III P M TR P COS III, Hadrian seated left on camp stool on platform, extending hand to citizen who stands on ground before him and holds out toga to receive largesse. BMCRE 291. Cohen 908 (10 Fr.). RIC 129. Rare: only 12 specimens in Reka Devnia hoard. almost very fine. We do not know the occasion of Hadrian's third largesse: both the coin type itself and Hadrian's movements during these years are difficult to date.
