Bronze Sestertius, AD 244. Rome. Obv: IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right. Rev: MARTEM PROPVGNATOREM, Mars advancing right, holding spear and shield; S-C across fields. about very fine. Reference: RIC IV-333.

Interestingly and unusually, the reverse legend of this coin is in the accusative case - 'MARTEM PROPVGNATOREM' - where we might expect 'MARTI PROPVGNATORI' instead, i.e. the dative case.
