Gallienus - Alemanni massacre RARE (F1829)

This coin commemorates the defeat of the germanic tribe of the Alemanni and the heroic role of the Praetorian cohorts near Milan in 259. The victory was total: according to Zonaras 300,000 Alamanni fell that day and the emperor received the title Germanicus Maximus.
