Divus Constantius I BI Nummus. Consecration issue struck under Constantine I. Treveri, AD 307-308. DIVO CONSTANTIO PIO, laureate, veiled and cuirassed bust to right / MEMORIA FELIX, lighted altar, with garland on the front, flanked by eagles standing on either side of the base; PTR in exergue. RIC VI 789. 7,18 g, 27 mm.  Extremely Fine;  silvering remaining.


Constantius I died in 306 AD while on his way to battle the Picts in northern Britain. After assuming the title of Augustus and establishing a firm power base at Trier, Constantine issued this special death commemorative for his father.
