Issued between AD 201 and 206, this reverse commemorates the Severan dynasty's decisive victories in the Parthian War of AD 197–199. Victory advances confidently, bearing a wreath to crown the conqueror and a palm branch, the enduring symbol of military success. The legend VICT PART MAX celebrates the title Parthicus Maximus, assumed following the capture of the Parthian capital Ctesiphon by Septimius Severus, one of Rome's greatest eastern triumphs. For the young Caracalla, these coins served as powerful dynastic propaganda, associating him with the military achievements of his father and presenting him as the natural heir to an empire strengthened through victory, discipline, and the enduring supremacy of Roman arms.
