 Augustus attributed his successes to the goddess Fortuna including his frequent bouts of illnesses. Fortuna was worshipped as both Fortuna Victrix and Fortuna Felix and therefore received the name Fortuna Antiates which this coin's legend refers too.

 

AUGUSTUS (27 BC-14 AD). Denarius. Rome. Q. Rustius, moneyer.

Obv: Q RVSTIVS FORTVNAE / ANTIAT.
Jugate, draped busts right of Fortuna Victrix, wearing round helmet, holding patera, and of Fortuna Felix, wearing stephane, set on bar with ram's head finials.
Rev: CAESARI AVGVSTO / EX SC.
Ornamented rectangular altar inscribed FOR RE.

Condition: Very fine, banker's mark and a few other marks on the obverse.
