Alexander the Great - Tetradrachm Phaselis (ME2507)

KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Subaeratus, 34 mm, 15.94 g, 11 h), irregular mint, imitating Phaselis. Dated CY 11 = 208/7, but circa 201/0-195/4. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. [A]ΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, ΙA (date) above Φ. Cf. Price 2849 (for prototype). Plating intact. Die shift on the obverse, otherwise, very fine. From the collection of Walter Uhrmeister, formed over the past sixty years.
