Titus, as Caesar, Aureus struck under Vespasian, Rome, AD 77-78; AV (g 7,01; mm 19,5) T CAESAR IMP - VESPASIANVS, laureate head r., Rv, Roma seated r. on shields, holding spear; around, two birds flying; at her feet, she-wolf and twins; in ex. COS VI. RIC I 194 = II 954; C 64; Calicó 738.

The reverse type of this coin copies the earlier Republican denarius of 115-114 BC (see lot 462) and depicts a new slant on the Roman foundation myth with the goddess Roma watching over the she-wolf suckling Romulus and Remus.
